- Any photocopy from a printer that uses non-pigmented inks and non-archival paper.
- Lithographs – These are printed on non-archival paper.
- That means any desk top printer for home use that uses laser or inkjet inks that are not pigmented and printed on any type of paper that is not PH Balanced, like photo copy paper.
WHAT IS a GICLÉE?
- A reproduction of an artist’s original that is archival.
- The reproduction of the original will be printed on fine art archival paper or canvas.
- The reproduction of the original will be printed using pigmented inks that are archival.
- Giclée prints can be sold as Limited Editions or Unlimited.
- Giclée prints offer buyers the opportunity to purchase an artist’s work at a more affordable price.
- Giclée prints allow artist’s to further their exposure of their artworks long after the original has been sold, or if the artist doesn’t want to sell their original.
- Giclée prints perpetuate continued income from original artwork.
- Term – Archival; Prints that can last up to 80 to 120 years without fading.
- The paper or canvas is specially coated to absorb the pigmented inks.
- The pigmented inks are specially made to last and not fade for a long time.
